The objective is to open the pores to restore the aroma that is waiting to be let loose. There are a couple of ways you can do this. One method is to very lightly sand the surface using a fine 200 grit sandpaper on a sanding block. What this will do is the sandpaper will penetrate the pores and will open up pockets in the wood where the precious cedar oil is contained. Be very careful with the sanding though as you don’t want to end up with scratch marks. This is avoidable if you sand in the same direction as the grain. You will find that it’s not going to take much sanding before you smell the aroma of the cedar once again.
Woodworking should be fun and you should always be proud of what you have made!
If you’re a highly active woodworker who enjoys working on a wide variety of projects, books may still be a bit limiting. You have a hundred plans, but only 2 or 3 you’re interested in for the next few months. You could easily end up with dozens of books around the house. Of course, you’re probably in trouble for bringing them back in the house. When you’re using them in the shop, the books will be filled up with saw dust. Once you bring them back in the house to look through, you’ll start leaving saw dust on the table, or scattered about the house. You may suddenly be in charge of running the house vacuum, instead of your ShopVac.
Why exactly do you want a DIY woodworking design? This is the first of many questions that you should be asking yourself when you get into woodworking. Well truthfully this is only the first of many questions that you should be asking yourself. What kind of projects that you want to build? Am I taking this up as a hobby or a profession? How much time and money can I afford to commit to my woodworking projects? If you have (at least) this much figured out you will have a lot less time trying to figure out what kind equipment you should be purchasing
However if you do have difficulty there is always the option of downloadable plans that are suitable for any skill level
