Right now we are in informational age and pretty much all of us have computers. Today, even wood workers use computers to store their woodworking designs in digital form for a lot easier keeping. Also, when you own hundreds or thousands of woodworking designs it is very hard to find the ones you want if they are in paper form. When you have them on your computer in digital form you just use the search option and the ”looking for them” problem goes away.
Secondly, working from woodworking plans is vital in undertaking any wood design or project. Wood craftsmen are very meticulous when it comes to detail woodworking design and making sure that each step is followed intimately. There are generalized plans for free on the Internet that can give you a feel for how large your project is going to be. However, these plans may also leave out many important details, especially if not written and built by a qualified craftsman who has experienced any problems.
If you’re a highly active woodworker who enjoys working on a wide variety of projects, books may still be a bit limiting. You have a hundred plans, but only 2 or 3 you’re interested in for the next few months. You could easily end up with dozens of books around the house. Of course, you’re probably in trouble for bringing them back in the house. When you’re using them in the shop, the books will be filled up with saw dust. Once you bring them back in the house to look through, you’ll start leaving saw dust on the table, or scattered about the house. You may suddenly be in charge of running the house vacuum, instead of your ShopVac.
Buying bundled packages of woodworking plans can save you a large amount of money. When you are buying plans one at a time, it is not uncommon to spend $10 or more for a plan. Some bundled packages have been known to include over 10,000 woodwork designs bringing the cost per plan under a penny each. With this many plans in hand, you could be busy out in the woodshop for years. You may not want your wife to catch on to that fact. She probably already thinks you are in the shop too many hours per week.
